Boris Schmelter DYSET
Boris Schmelter alias DYSET (*1980) intensively spends time on graffiti since 1996 and therefor travels through whole Europe. 2001 he starts his studies at the University of Applied Sciences Hannover. Parallel to that, he is founder member of the design collective xhoch4 in 2003. 2005 he launches his project "27 addicts" (www.imaddicted.org), in which the mergence of design and graffiti is put down on paper - a project, that results in his diploma.
Emphasis of his work at xhoch4 are conception and design in the fields of corporate-, graphic- and web-design.
The free works of Boris Schmelter are characterised by consistent series or phases, in which he exercises a technique, a symbol through various media, until it reaches perfection - to then be displaced by a new period. Exemplarily, an abstract skull-icon maybe mentioned here.
An artistic leftover of the graffiti-roots as well as a reminiscence to the work as graphic designer can be seen in the forceful use of letters / typography in his free works.
Complexity (as regards content and technique) can be depicted as leitmotif of his work.
